WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:  Attendees should be familiar with swing outs, lindy circles, basic solo jazz, and other 6 and 8 count patterns.

11:00 AM – 12:30 PM 1) “Response Vs. Roadmap: Part #1”: Staying connected to the music can be challenging, and we often rely on roadmaps like phrasing, AABA format, or "three moves and a break" to make it easier. But when we’re lucky enough to share space with live musicians, we see their solos are vibrant, expressive conversations. What if you could truly listen, understand, and respond to what a musician is offering?

In this two-part class, Ana Lisa and Shane will guide you in developing the skills to interpret what you hear—allowing you to connect deeply, think creatively, and dance with genuine intention to the music being played.

(LUNCH TIME)

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM  2) “Top Down”: Why should the legs and feet get all the glory? It’s time to let your arms steal the spotlight! This class’ll explore how to bring storytelling, creativity, and flair to your upper body.

Can we tell a whole story using just our upper half? What happens when the lower half keeps it steady, giving the arms full freedom to shine? From striking gestures to nuanced movements, we’ll uncover the limitless potential of dancing “top down.”
